Relief is the weather cooling off so we can finally send the kids outside to play to burn thst energy! This cooler weather is getting us outdoors more enjoying the patio and swingset in the backyard. I'm definitely looking forward to our upcoming cruise and Hawaiian get away. I'm not sure which island in Hawaii we are going to yet.
So... we had a whole birthday party. MINE! I pride myself, well my whe family really, on thnking outside the box trying to have fun and engaging parties. You know the parties you see oln social media? Yeah. Yep. You got it. Those are the type pf parties we have.
I usually plan my own parties. This is what I did:
Jelly Bean Scratcher Party
To have this party you need ---
~Bamboozled jelly beans
~DIY scratcher cards ( I ordered mine off Amazon)
(Here is the link to get the same scratcher cards you can fill in yourself: https://a.co/d/919PUnL)
~games to play
~prizes for winners
~a timer (We used the timer for Pictionary. I used my echo dot to set the timers, but you can use anything)
Wondering what games we played?
-5 second rule (Here's the Amazon link: https://a.co/d/hp1buLK)
-Pictionary, Guesstures, or charades
We played pictionary since I have a huge whiteboard and dry erase markers. I hosted each game. As the game host I used a website to randomly decide what to draw and the level of difficulty seeing we had young family members in the party as well, that. That way no one felt like I was showing favortism or cheating. (HAHAHAHA! Our family gets crunk when it comes to games!) Here's the website that radomly picks for you: https://randomwordgenerator.com/pictionary.php
-Drink and Flip (nonalcohol edition, of course)
For this game you need Solo cups preferably or some kind of sturdy plastic cups that are all the same size. This could be a team against team game or a one on one versus game. Each persin gets the same amount of drink. We did Rootbeer or Sprite. It's a race so someone will have tp say go so both players start at the same time. The goal is to drink all of your drink then place your empty cup upside down at the edge of the table so you can use your finger to flip the empty cup so it is now sitting right side up on the table. You keep trying until you get it. The first person to succeed is the winner. If it's team versus team then once the player is successful the next personcan start drinking theirs up and then flip their empty cup to succeed and allow the next person on the team tp ogo next once they are successful. This will keep going until everyone on that team is finished. First team to finish first is the winning team.
I'm definitely going to hsve to do a YouTube videol showing you how to do this!
-Scratch and See
Scratch and See was the theme game. Remember the DIY scratchers? I made some that said you lose and have to pick a jelly bean. The Bamboozled jelly beans were dumped out of the box onto a paper plate (the jelly bean platter). If you scratched a scratcher that said you lost and have to eat a jelly bean then you had to close your eyes and pick a jelly bean off the platter to eat and just hope you didn't pick a gross flavor. There were winning scratchers, too. Had to be! That's where the prizes came in. I had went to Dollar Tree and Five and Below and bought some prizes to give away. It can be whatever you want to give as a prize. So if you scratched a winning tcket you got to pick a prize. Keep in mind to have the number of winning tickets match the amount of prizes you have. To make it fun I even made some scratchers saying they could be a thief and steal someone's gift if they choose to. For my party I had 10 winners, 2 theives, and the rest were jelly bean eaters. It was so funny!
Of course, I had jelly beans left over from the Scratch and See game so the rest of the beans were still put to use. The losers of the other games we playe had to eat a jelly bean. The way my family was competitive and loud made me laugh until my stomach and eyeballs hurt. My eyeballs were hurting because I kept laugh crying!
I sure do hope you try to have this kind of party and have a good old time with your family and frineds. I wish I had it on video to post on YouTube, but I think most of my family is just a tad camera shy.
